Start here — this is my own library, and I am proud of it. After 20 years making templates, they are now all free: titles, transitions, backgrounds, and effects, no account and no membership. It is the easiest place on this list to start.

Below are the other places I genuinely recommend. Most are run by friends and people I admire in the FCP world. Offerings change over time, so poke around each site to see what is free right now.

MotionVFX

Run by Szymon Masiak, this is one of the most popular places for Final Cut Pro and Motion templates. Top-notch quality, and honestly the inspiration for me starting my own store. A super kind, extremely talented gentleman.

FCPXFree

Run by the talented Roger Bolton of CoreMelt, this is a depository of nearly every free FCP template on the web — one of the best places to find almost anything. While you are there, look at CoreMelt for some seriously powerful Final Cut Pro tools.

FxFactory

A powerhouse collection of plugins and effects from many talented creators, run by the friendly Niclas Bahn. It is a downloadable app that installs everything cleanly — a big library of free and paid effects for FCP.

Ripple Training

Steve Martin and Mark Spencer are legends in FCP training, and they also give away a range of free plugins. Scroll the lower half of their plugins page for the freebies.

BretFX

Run by my buddy Bret Williams — met him and his family on my U.S. road trip, some of the nicest, most down-to-earth people. He makes genuinely useful, great templates for Final Cut Pro.

LenoFX

Leno Porto is the owner and lead motion-graphics artist. We met online in his early days and I have been blown away by how far he has come. Brazilian kindness, serious talent, beautiful work.

Stupid Raisins

Run by the delightful Dylan Higginbotham. I got to know Dylan early in his store’s journey and it has been amazing to watch it grow. A cool guy, and generous with his knowledge.

MixKit

A clean, well-made library of free FCP templates (from the Envato Elements team). Worth a look for quick, quality grabs.

FCP.co Forum

A great community forum run by Peter Wiggins, with free templates and effects from pros and hobbyists alike. Visit the main FCP.co too for the latest Final Cut Pro news.

Idustrial Revolution

Also by Peter Wiggins — a big selection of free XEffects for Final Cut Pro, plus a deep catalog of paid work.

Alex4D

Alex Gollner is a legend who has shared powerful free FCP plugins for years. Follow him — he is always ahead of the curve on new features.

DeathbyVLog

Free Final Cut Pro templates and Lightroom presets from vlogger Ryan Fredericks. While you are there, catch Ryan and Stacia’s vlogging adventures — great work, you two.

Jon Belew

Creative director and editor Jon Belew, whom I met through the FCP community. He has a few free Final Cut Pro templates worth grabbing: Ring of Fire, Title Wrap, and Cookies.

Tapio Haaja

Tapio has been super friendly in the Motion community and shares some very nice free templates. Grab them from the links in his video descriptions.

BadAss FX

Stunning Final Cut Pro templates by the talented Arthur Moore, kindly shared with me by Chris Hocking. Meticulously crafted work that will make your videos stand out.

A quick word on staying safe

Only download from the official sites above. Anywhere promising a “free Final Cut Pro” download of the app itself, or a “Windows version,” is a scam — Final Cut Pro is Mac-only and comes from Apple. For templates, stick to creators you can verify.
